An End to Another Year
And we are starting off on the wrong foot.
Aiden is sick today. He was running a fever last night and this morning, the vomiting began. I had to run to Wal-Mart as he was nearly out of diapers, Willy the Chinchilly ate his water bottle (why does Wal-Mart sell every type of critter food besides chinchilla food?), I was out of Pepsi, needed to get Fritos and bean dip (New Year's tradition) and black eyed peas, detergent to clean the puked on sheets. Oh yeah, and my nails desperately NEED filled. Aiden did great until he saw the bottle of pepsi come out of the cooler. Then the tantrum began because he wasn't getting any.
Aiden fell asleep in hisrecliner carseat on the way to the pet store to get Willy's food. I thought I would be able to make that trip with relative ease. NOPE! As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, said little boy was awake and clinging to me for dear life. He whined all the way back home and has refused to nap today. He is, however, happy to have the dreaded Pedialyte.
Therapy is canceled today.
Yesterday, the Christmas tree came down. Total count of ornaments killed by Aiden - 3. Aiden had managed to hide two more under and behind the tree. Knowing his pitching ability, I can take a guess how he got them back there.
Monday, we had an appointment with Dr.Quack Developmental Pediatrician. Aiden threw everything at him. We talked about Aiden being on Pediasure and how WIC thinks that Aiden should be on table foods only. Well, granted he should, but he isn't. Dr. Pediatrician and Dr. Pediatric Cardiologist are fighting with WIC to keep Aiden on Pediasure. However, Dr. Quack thinks he is Superman and WIC won't fight with him. He filled out a Pediasure prescription for 6 months. Since Aiden does not have a mickey button, WIC will only do 2 months.
I also had to call Dr. Pediatrician's office to get all of Aiden's referrals renewed for 2009. That should keep the referral lady busy for a day.
Aiden has decided that butt scooting through the house is the new way to travel. He doesn't want to army crawl anymore. Oh, and he doesn't want to be carried from room to room anymore. Unfortunately, he will only take 5 supported steps at a time.
Aiden has also decided that the Little People NASCAR track is fun. Chris turned it on and made the cars wreck causing the people to fly out of the cars and spin around the track. Yes, he is a boy....
Oh, and how do you officially take too many pictures/videos of your kid?

That is my video camera bag on Aiden's shoulder. He took it from underneath my desk and wrapped it around his shoulders. He then decided to take it into the living room to play with the camera.

Aiden's Christmas #3
Aiden had a pretty good Christmas, even though he woke me up at 6:30 am for his milkshake, then went back to sleep. I had to get up though, so I could cook what I was taking to Grandma Susan's house and shower.
We opened our presents here at home before we left. I have video of Aiden opening some of his, and I promise to upload it - but I still have to re-install the software.
But here are some pictures from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
One of Aiden's presents was the Fisher Price Little People NASCAR track. Aiden loves NASCAR and he loves the Little People. So, I figured he would absolutely love this present. WRONG! Oh, he hates it and can't climb up me fast enough to get away from it.

Weekend at Aiden's
Saturday, while I was loading pictures on a memory card for a digital photo frame, Aiden decided he wanted to play in the bathroom. Lately, he hasn't been able to play in the bathroom as the door stays shut. Aiden is fascinated with toilet water.
I heard a thump and the screaming commences. My first thought was that Aiden fell backwards while trying to stand up. NOPE!!
He finally accomplished the task he has been coveting. He managed to climb into the bathtub. The other day I was in the shower and Aiden came in. He attempted to climb in the shower with me while still fully clothed. He thinks "helping" me shave my legs is occupational therapy. (Thanks Miss Kate!) So I got him undressed, undiapered and put him in the tub with me. Aiden HATES showers, so he tried to get out of the tub, and nearly did -- head first. Ever try to catch a slippery when wet, squirmy 2 year old? Note to self --- NOT EASY!
Aiden is spending more time in his room playing with his toys. All the big cool toys are in there.
How do you get a 2 year old who hates to take a nap to go to sleep? Put him in his car seat and head out shopping for 9 hours. We left the house shortly after 11 am.
We had to stop at Wal-Mart first. Saturday, Chelsea went to our local store and I asked her to pick up trash bags. They were out. How on Earth does a store run out of trash bags? So Sunday, we stopped at another one and they had trash bags. We only went in for 1 thing and Chelsea had to return some stuff. However, we left with $125 of stuff because Chris decided to buy stocking stuffers. Then we headed to the mall.
I hated taking Aiden out in the cold, but I only get one day of shopping this week and Sunday was it. Today and tomorrow, Aiden has therapies. I don't dare walk into Wal-Mart or any store for that matter on Christmas Eve.
Aiden fell asleep on the way to Tulsa. Chris wanted to stop off at Target first. And Aiden remained asleep through most of Target. Unfortunately, Target does not have the nifty infant carriers built into their shopping carts, but apparently the basket of the cart was comfy enough for Aiden to sleep in.
We then spent 20 minutes driving 2 miles to the mall. Chris had the brilliant idea to take the huge stroller (instead of the umbrella stroller), so Aiden could sleep in that while at the mall. However, there is no way a certain little boy is going to go to sleep with that many people to smile, wave at, and charm.
As soon has we hit the entrance to Sears, Aiden was sitting as far up as he could clapping and saying "HI" to everyone he saw. He didn't care if they were paying him attention or not. He knew someone was going to eventually.
Our first stop was at the food court. Aiden helped everyone eat their lunch and then noticed Momma had a cup with a straw (our latest task - learning to drink from a straw). After lunch, Chris and Chelsea went one way, Aiden and I went the other. Aiden was good in all the stores, except one. Kirkland's has WAY too much small stuff that he can grab.
We then headed to Casual Male and TJ Maxx. Casual Male was closed. Aiden didn't want to spend any time in the cart at TJ Maxx, he wanted held. He was starting to get tired, his eyes were getting red.
Chris then wanted to go to Academy Sports. Aiden did well there also, until the last 20 minutes. He was ready for bed. So I told him we were leaving. On the way home, Aiden fell asleep and Chris got the brilliant idea to go back to Wal-Mart for more stocking stuff.
Once we were at Wal-Mart, Aiden decided to wake up and was not happy. So, Momma is left to the task of signing Itsy Bitsy Spider to Aiden while at Wal-Mart. Thankfully, Aiden thinks my voice is not that off, because we avoided a melt down.
When we got home at 8:30pm, Aiden was ready for his jammies and milkshake. I changed his clothes and diaper and laid him in his bed. He didn't once get out to play with any toys and he fell asleep promply.
However at 1 am, he started whimpering. 5 out of 7 nights, Aiden must come to the big bed to sleep at 1 am. He HAS to use Chris as a pillow. Aiden will sit up and lean over to lay his head on Chris's back. I so want a picture of this, but I would wake everyone up turning on the light.
Oh and the tree is now safe, Aiden can not take out any more ornaments on the tree. He would have to climb over all the gifts to reach one.

Cabin Fever
Sunday night it started to rain here. Only problem is that the temperatures outside were like 16*. Meaning that the rain was freezing.
Aiden got to skip PT on Monday since no one could get out of their driveway to get to our house. Chris managed to get my Jeep out of it's parking home to go to Wal-Mart for much needed necessities. Aiden didn't get to go as it was seriously too cold to take him out.
Tuesday, Aiden decided to throw up 2 hours before his speech therapist was scheduled. Speech therapy was cancelled that day.
Oh yeah, Chris was home both Monday and Tuesday. Aiden apparently does not like to nap when Chris is home. He refused to take his naps both days even though his eyes were red, the relentless yawning, and screaming/crying because he was so freaking tired.
Tuesday night, Aiden passed out on the floor next to the tree at 5:30pm and took a two hour nap.
He didn't want to go back to sleep until after 10pm.
Wednesday (with Chris back at work), Aiden fell asleep on the floor while playing. Normally, this would have been a great thing, but Karrie (EI PT) was coming over early to work on Aiden's walking ability. When Karrie gets here, Aiden is passed out on the floor still face down with arms and legs spread out.
Karrie thought Aiden was too cute to wake up, so we didn't wake him.
Chris came home early due to one of his doctors sticking a needle full of steroids into him. Aiden decided to wake up then. We then spent the rest of the evening playing with Aiden until it was time for Aiden to go to bed.
Aiden had other plans.
He refused to lay still in his bed. He kept getting out of it. How do I know Aiden is out of bed? The majority of his toys plays music. Those toys are not allowed in his bed. Those toys were going off a lot last night.
At 10pm I took Aiden to bed with me thinking that he was tired enough to finally lay still and go to sleep. NOPE! The GloWorm was brought into bed. He cuddled it, he kissed it. For an hour and 15 minutes.
This prompted me to get out of bed with Aiden. We sat down in the recliner and rocked. Aiden got so mad that he made himself throw up.
He kept chewing on everything. Finally the light bulb came on and I got him a dose of Tylenol and some Orajel. Within 5 minutes he was asleep.
Aiden finally is taking a nap in his bed today. We sat and rocked for 10 minutes. The child can and will fight sleep. He does not care. There are toys to play with. Even now in his sleep, I can hear music going off in his room.

"Please Don't Climb on the Furniture"
We all heard this growing up.
However, in our "not-so-typical" house, this phrase is not said.
And Aiden is in Heaven.
He is learning to climb. And we allow it. He has been trying to figure out how to climb up on the sofa all by himself for the past week. And he finally did it last night.
However, I forgot to have the camera ready for this newest accomplishment. I'm not too convinced though that Aiden would have climbed anything had he seen that the camera was out. He wants to pose for the camera. So today, I took the video camera out and sat it on the table next to the sofa. Hopefully, Aiden will be in the mood to climb tonight.

The Man in the Red Suit
Monday, Aiden had 2 Christmas parties to attend. One with his EI group, SoonerStart. The other with Mended Little Hearts of Tulsa.
I didn't take the camera for the first party. Really, there was no reason to. Aiden had the same response to Santa at both parties.
Not even 10 minutes before, Aiden was on the floor playing with Dr. Kimberling's (Dr. Secondary Pediatric Cardiologist) son. Aiden didn't care that Dr. K was speaking to the group. Aiden stole the show with his ability to do the splits.

Aiden's First Christmas Party of the Season
Last night, Aiden's school, The Little Light House, had their annual Christmas party for the kids.
When we got there, since Aiden is a student, we did get preferred parking. Good thing, because it was like 35* out last night. However, part of the parking lot was closed off for the horse and carriage ride. We skipped that part, it was just a bit too cold to be out in a carriage.
One of the local girl scout troops was there singing carols.
We walked around to some of the various activities that the kids could do. Aiden made an ornament, but apparently I lost it. He also got to make a play-doh candy cane, which when put into the "oven", it "baked" and became a cookie.
One of the rooms was transformed into a snow room. The line was too long for that, so we skipped playing in the snow.
We then went to get something to eat. Aiden decided that iced tea is a good thing to stick his hand in and splash. Hopefully, the stain will come out of his sleeve.
After eating, we ran into most of his classmates and went to get dessert. The Fellowship Gathering was about to take place. So we sat on the floor so that the kids could see what was going on. The Fellowship Hall was packed. Miss Marsha and Miss Jean began the Gathering.
Then we sang a song, led by one of the volunteers and the Purple Class teacher.
Then jingle bells were handed out for Jingle Bells.
Then the special visitor, Santa, arrived. Aiden's girlfriend, Alyx, thought that Santa was apparently much more cute (or impressive) than Aiden, because she took off and was the first in line to sit on Santa's lap.
Aiden obviously wasn't too impressed with Santa.
After all that, Aiden was pretty much done for the night. He was tired and in a foul mood. We stood in line to get his presents. He screamed and cried all the way home. Once we got home, I got him undressed, diaper changed, and calmed down enough for a "milkshake" (Pediasure mixed with his meds.) He managed to fall asleep for 15 minutes, but then woke up and was ready to play some more. So, I got his jammies on.
Aiden then noticed the new presents in the floor.
And he knew that they were for him, he was so excited. One of them was shaped funny and lumpy, which got the better of my curiosity. So, I let Aiden open it. 5 of the soft Tonka trucks. Those are cool.
Aiden was apparently so tired, that he slept all night last night. However this morning, Hurricane Aiden has appeared again. The tree has fallen victim to Hurricane Aiden. One of the black balls is out of his reach (unless he were to stand up) and he wants it.
I tell him no.
He fake cries.
