On days when Aiden has school, I stay in Tulsa and normally hang out at my mom's house (which is where I am at right now) since school and home are 35 miles apart and I drive a gas sucking SUV. Honestly, with the price of gas these days, I don't want to afford more than $100 a week in feeding the beast.
So yesterday, I was bored to death and called Chris (who was still at home, enjoying his day off. He worked security at the SoonerNational races this weekend and put in 35 hours in 2.5 days). But I had free admission tickets to the Just Between Friends sale and I didn't want to go alone. So, we went. Chris didn't enjoy it because there was no "manly" stuff there. However, I did manage to get Aiden a pair of
Walking Wings and some Snoopy stacking blocks.
Chris decided that
I needed he wanted fish tank. So after picking up Aiden from school, we went to Premiere Aqautics, the fish getting store. Now, I'm not opposed to fish, my mom has fish. However my mom has a
butt load underminate amount of fish in numerous tanks. Actually, she has plant tanks in which fish live in them. Chris however wanted a fish called a discus. According to the fishy expert (my mom),
I do not want Chris does not need a discus. Apparently as young fish, these things must be fed 4 - 5 times a day. I do not have time for this....
So, Chris looked at a few sparkly fishes, a blue and black stripped fish, and a bright blue crawdad. However, he first needs to set up a tank. This included a trip to Southern Agriculture.
Where they allow people to bring in pets on a leash.
There we met a lady who had a baby kangaroo (wearing a pink bandana) in a pouch. Aiden perked right up when the kangaroo raised her head, but he sure didn't want to pet it.
After a stop at the Chinese restaurant, where Aiden impressed our waitress with his need to learn to use chopsticks, Chris went to Wal-Mart and Aiden and I went home. Chris bought home a 29 gallon tank and a tank stand, leaving me to wonder has he really lost his mind?
Setting up a tank, for fish that you do not want to die within the first 48 hours, involves
a lot of work. You have to buy rocks, you have to use "special water", you have to let the tank sit for a few days to build up stuff. I called the fishy expert (Mom) time after time because Chris had questions. Which led to a special trip to Tulsa (in gas sucking SUV) for a sponge that already had "stuff" on it to 'contaminate' Chris's sterile tank. Then another trip to Wal-Mart for rocks, rocks, and more rocks.
This morning, as I was leaving the house, I told Chris to call the carpet cleaner people. I left instructions for Thursday afternoon. Tomorrow, Aiden has school, I have plans for the school guest luncheon, and Aiden has therapy after school. Friday, Aiden has a trip to Dr. Pediatric Orthopaedic Specialist. Thursday is the only open day... When does Chris schedule the carpet cleaners? WEDNESDAY, between 10am and 1pm. So, Aiden does not have school, I do not have the school guest luncheon, and more than likely, the carpet will be wet for therapy....
Dr. Pediatrician dropped her grandson off at school today. He is in Aiden's class at school. And being a pediatrician, she asked about the other kids in the class. I admit, I am one of the two "nosey" moms in the class. So, I gave her the low-down on the kids. And she was impressed as two of the kids, both 3 year olds, shouldn't have even made it to 8 months.
Oh, and speaking of kids.... One of the girls in Aiden's class has made an uunscheduled trip to the Children's Hospital. Bethany, has T2 and severe seizures. She is in a chemical coma and currently on a vent. So if you could spare a few prayers for her, her Momma, Jennifer, would appreciate it.
